Most important: NEVER lock your knees!!!
For people looking for vids on knee safety: Having your feet shoulder width apart and not too wide saves your knees. Having you toes pointing slightly outward helps too. It’s just all about the foot / knee alignment. There’s nothing out there that talks about knee safety on leg press.

but people who cant do squats due to back pain usually main in machines like leg press hack squat with amazing full range of motion

Never lock any joint of body while doing any workout

If you wanna go deep on the legpress, just put your feet out wider and point your toes out. Problem solved, now your back won't round, as long as you have proper flexibility

Range of motion preachers are the actual ego lifters for the most part.
The regular back squat should be the priority over the leg press. If you are already squatting, you don't really need leg press. Better use the time to do other exercises. The only time you use the leg press is if you have spinal issues that prevent you from doing squats, or if you want to train your legs for hypertrophy.
It's odd cuz I watch a different youtube video telling you to go all the way in to ensure the full ROM. Can't remember the fancy word he used. He does warn you about the butt rounding off the mat but explains feet positioning and adjusting the seat if possible helps avoid that risk. Now it varies based on a person's height and leg length but these are conflicting videos
You should go as low as you can without rounding the lower back and tilting your hips posteriorly. The purpose of going past 90 is to further engage the glutes. However if you want to isolate the quads, just place your feet lower on the platform and you should be able to go deeper safely.
Thank you. This is the only video I could find on the leg press that talks about how to do it safely for the low back. I searched high and low for the proper way to protect my back. No one talks about the back when it comes to the leg press. Ive only found one other video and it was done by a woman who says you should maintain the arch in your lower back through the movement and it didnt feel right to me.

I don't know if this assessment is accurate if one is allowing the knees to widen. I go pretty deep but make sure not to allow my hips to roll back as in the video.

If I didn’t squat ass to grass and leg press low(controllably) I wouldn’t be where I’m at today I can squat 545 and leg press around 810 for 7×12 again controllably you don’t just push through it like CrossFit you use controlled form this is dead wrong and complete horse shit
