Easy to use and great if you're just getting into cycing
Well there's one brand never to buy…sounds like a 3 wheeled wagon being dragged down the street.
This why I would need a three wheeler!😮
I crossed the US on a self-contained RANS LWB Stratus in 1992, and all hills were difficult (the Ozarks worst)
It was the stop signs at the bottom that enraged me most.
I love how these older guys are just grinning the whole time at Hank's struggles lol
make it a proper race get all the gcn presenters on the track racing at the same time.
They should make the angle more upwards for new users
This guy doesn't seem very athletic. In great shape, sure, but not athletic.
Most useless bike ever invented
Lightweight and easy to operate. Very convenient.
The worst part of this video is that it's just 16min long.
Brilliant vid but…
WHERE'S THE DOWNHILL FOOTAGE???
OMG, that wobbly steering !
why u cut of the part where u crash on the lady
makes me want to jump on my Baccetta G20 and tackle the hills of Brooklyn. 'Bent riders don't get to stand on the pedals to climb, unlike the folks on knock off racing bikes. I usually catch up on the downward ride. Cheers.
What size frame is it?
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt
These recumbants and velo s are nothing more than gimmicks allowing contrary idiots to get noticed on the roads. Can anyone imagine how any of them would fare in the Vuelta a Espana .Just watch how the riders climb the 8 km hills at 15 to 20 mph .A Velo would be packing in after a km with the recumbent maybe half a Km on. They re an expensive to buy joke
That slowest fastest looking mechanical device I’ve ever seen.
My observations are that the cranks are too long. There is a formula for calculating ideal crank length for a recumbent. I've used crank shorteners to get near to the ideal and it makes a big difference. It would be interesting to see an attempt using a P38 Lightning. Though the seating position is more upright it allows you to really push against the seat enabling you to generate more power in your pedalling strokes, a big benefit for climbing. As a contrary person I also don't use clipless pedals but Shimano flat GR 500 pedals. I can definitely put more power through these as I am exerting more pressure over a larger contact area. It would be interesting to do power output tests to confirm this. Very entertaining though. 👍👍🙂🙂
If that Carbon Coffin had a tight turning radius, it would be a total blast in some epic descents, I'd love to see that thing screaming down a epic alp
I drive velomobile Quest most of the year. Snow is not easy. It is a bike that last long. Come and see me in Finland.
I really wish they sell cheap recumbents here. might instill people's interests
I appreciate the passionate, positive tone of the whole production. Very well done, it is sincere and fun to watch, thank you.
EDIT: An idea = instead of having to talk while pedalling uphill, you could add "comic bubbles" with your thoughts, afterwards (post production). This way you can focus on the job better.
Loved this video. I read lots of the comments, and agree that it would be fun and interesting to see a variety of uprights, recumbent and ebikes do a long ride. A ride from one city to another maybe, something 100km to 300km long and then see all the strengths and weaknesses as they occur along the ride.
Thanks heaps for these videos.
And so the True Belief continues: recumbents can't climb! Trouble is this "trial" was set up to guarantee failure. First you pick arguably the worst two styles of recumbents for the test. Low racers are not known as good climbers, especially with a completely inexperienced rider wobbling all over the course in the wrong gear! Plus being gered to high in the first place even in the low ring. Next a streamlined recumbent where the streamlined shell gains zero advantage and just adds additional weight and via reduced air circulation increased rider heat stress. Now if I were going to conduct a recumbent hill climbing test I would pick a dual 20" short wheel base recumbent (like a RANS Rocket) add a mountain triple chainring front set up and an 11/34 rear cluster, and set up a course on the side of Mt. Everest. Oh so recumbents can climb after all?
9:25 sounds like a trash can
Smiling saves a couple of watts.
@Global Cycling Network What muscles can you train when using recumbent bicycles?
My only concerns about a recumbent are their lowness to the ground. On American roads, drivers don't see a normal bike that has the rider up higher and I'm afraid of being run over.l My secondary fear is on rural roads and the risk of a dog chasing – I'd rather have them at my ankle than my face. And I'm not sure how well I could get off a recumbent and use it to protect me from the dog.
It would be interesting if you rode a V20 Cruz bike. They have a front boom for arm power for better climbing.
love it no worries you suffer nah u 2 pretty
Idiots ! Small wheels like at kid's bikes solved stability problem!
It's like s less sylish Sinclair C5 😃
Whatever else it is, it's not a bicycle.
Don't know why there was 2 bikes when you should have brought a "bread & butter" recumbent trike for something realistic and easy to ride. Perhaps you just wanted ridiculous shock value of a non recumbent rider on the hardest to ride recumbent style.
When you watch Hank wobble do you also automatically try to balance the bike like me?!
You guys don't know how to ride a bike. I tried rear wheel drive recumbent bike once and didn't take time to *learn*. Why the heck you want to stand on a bike and then turn the wheel? Just f'ing turn the wheel then put your leg off the ground!
I'm giving a big dislike on this one, ladies.
The Laurel and Hardy of GCN.
More recumbent
This is like watching Jeremy Clarkson going off on one of the first Teslas.
Supporting your head weight in that recumbent looks tiring.
There wasn't any talk about weights of those recumbents, so I had to Google for the weight of the Alpha 7. It seems to be about 21 kg, so it's not exactly a climbing machine. The weight of the low racer is likely to be more comparable to a normal bike.
